Challenge

Goally is a service in a device for kids with ADHD and autism. Launching it meant four problems at once:

  • It was a new kind of product that people were not familiar with.
  • The potential market was small.
  • Buyers had to wait three to five months to receive the device.
  • The pricing model had not been decided yet.

What we did

  • Researched the market to find every potential customer group in the US.
  • Tested audiences: lookalikes of people who liked the client’s page, lookalikes of people who engaged with its posts, people interested in ADHD and autism pages, and organisations that help people with ADHD and autism. The two lookalike audiences responded best.
  • Read the signals when scaling stalled. The audiences saturated as we scaled. Ads Manager data and the comments on the ads showed that people found the price too high.
  • Changed the offer with the client. First we moved from a one-time payment to a subscription, to lower the upfront cost. That helped a little, but not enough. Then we built a stronger offer: the device for $1 at checkout, with payments starting after the first 30 days of use, backed by the client’s 90-day money-back guarantee.
